THE GALILEO SEVEN
Original Airdate: January 7th, 1967
Don Marshall, John Crawford, Peter Marko and Phyllis Douglas
THE PLOT:
While investigating a strange space anomoly the crew of the Galileo Seven loses contact with the Enterprise and must make
an emergency landing on a strange uncharted planetoid.
Which is bad enough as it stands, but the only inhabitants of the strange planetoid are uncivilized primitive giant monsters
who attack as soon as they see it.
Kirk has to decide rather to go on to take Commissioner Ferris to his oppointment on time or continue to search for his
friends, Spock, Leonard and Scotty.
THE OPINION:
Only three things really bugged me about this episode. One, why did the creatures attack. They didn't eat the people they
killed so what was the motive, trespassing on their terrority. They never explained why the giants were so hostile and two,
Commissioner Ferris bugged me. Just writing them off, how could this cold prick be appointed dog catcher let alone any position
that requires a heart and mercy. Lastly, the arguement between complete logic and feeling. That was alway a hidden sub-plot
in the whole series but no more apparent then this episode. It was almost beating us over the head with it.
